Arcade’s Trusted Paint Correction Specialists

Restore the shine and clarity to your vehicle’s paint by our detailing experts.

How Paint Correction Works

If your car’s paint looks dull, full of swirls, or just tired under the sun, paint correction is what brings it back to life. It’s a process where we carefully remove surface-level imperfections, like scratches, oxidation, and water spots, by machine polishing the clear coat. The result? A deep, glossy finish that looks better than new.

This isn’t just a quick buff. We use the right tools, techniques, and polishing compounds to correct the paint without damaging it. The goal is to make your car look incredible while protecting the clear coat, not thinning it out.

Plenty of cars have been damaged by bad polishing techniques. We’ve seen it too many times, someone tries to improve the paint but ends up leaving behind more swirls or burns right through the clear. That’s why experience matters. At Lawrence Automotive Detailing, we approach every vehicle with care and precision to make sure the results are worth it, and long lasting.

Whether it’s a daily driver, a weekend cruiser, or something special you only take out on sunny days, our correction process helps you enjoy that clean, glassy finish every time you look at your car.

Many customers follow up paint correction with a ceramic coating for long-term protection against New York’s tough weather conditions.

Our Paint Correction Process

We achieve top-quality results by following a carefully refined process. Unlike quick-turnaround car washes, we focus on every step to ensure a high-quality finish.

Step 1

Thorough wash and dry

We start with a thorough exterior wash, including wheels and tires, to remove dirt, road grime, and contaminants. A clean surface is essential before any polishing begins.

Step 2

Cleanse the paint

This step removes stubborn, embedded contaminants like brake dust and industrial fallout. A smooth, contaminant-free surface ensures the best results during polishing.

Step 3

Inspect the paint and perform a test spot

We evaluate your vehicle’s paint condition and test different polish and pad combinations to find the best approach. This ensures we get maximum results with minimal clear coat removal.

Step 4

Polish the imperfections away

This is where the magic happens. Using professional-grade polishers and compounds, we carefully remove swirls, scratches, and haze from the paint. Whether you’re looking for a full restoration or just an enhancement, we tailor the process to your vehicle’s needs.

Step 5

Protect your paint

Once the polishing step is completed, we apply a high-quality sealant or ceramic coating (available at an additional cost) to lock in the results and protect against Arcade’s elements.

Step 6

Final touches

To complete the job, we clean all the glass and windows, wipe down door jambs, and dress the tires for that fully detailed look.

We use this proven system on all vehicles, from newer models needing minor enhancement to older vehicles requiring a full restoration.

The Tools and Products We Use For the Best Results

Achieving a flawless finish requires the right tools for the job. No single solution works for every vehicle, which is why we carry a wide range of professional-grade polishers, pads, and compounds.

Polishers: Polishers come in different sizes (1″, 3″, 5″, and more) and styles, including rotary, dual-action, and forced rotation. The larger throw polishers are ideal for hoods and large panels. Smaller polishers work better for tight areas like bumpers and side mirrors.

Pads: Pads are what actually buff the paint surface when attached to a polisher. We use a variety, depending on the level of correction needed. For instance, wool pads are used for the most aggressive level of swirl removal. If there’s a vehicle with “hard” clear coat, we’ll need to get more aggressive to get the swirls out.  Most aggressive, used for heavy swirl removal.

After that, you have the microfiber cutting pads that are the happy middle between it’s not the most aggressive but also not the weakest. And finally, the foam polishing pads are used as the last refinement step to bring out the maximum gloss and clarity.

Compounds and Polishes: For cutting, we use compounds that bite into the surface and remove defects. For the final finish, we switch to fine polishes to bring out depth and shine. Every car gets a test spot before we commit to a system, we never guess when it comes to paintwork.

We always perform test spots to determine the best pad, polish, and compound combination before working on your vehicle.

We Offer More Than Paint Correction

If you’re investing in paint correction, these services help keep your car looking its best long-term:

Ceramic Coating: Lock in your results with long-term protection and a stunning, easy-to-clean finish. It adds a hydrophobic layer that repels dirt, water, and contaminants to extend the life of your polished paint.

Interior Detail: Deep-clean your cabin to match your freshly corrected paint. We remove stains, dust, and grime from every surface so the inside feels just as fresh as the outside looks.

Exterior Detail: Includes a hand wash, decon, clay treatment, and sealant for cars that don’t need polishing. This is a great option for regular upkeep and preserving your vehicle’s exterior between correction services.

Full Detail: A complete in-and-out detail for the full refresh. It’s the best choice when your car needs attention across the board, inside and out, in one convenient appointment.

Rust Proofing: Protect the undercarriage from salt and moisture damage, especially during upstate winters. This treatment helps prevent corrosion and extends the life of your vehicle’s frame and suspension components.

The Difference Between Hard and Soft Clear Coat

You’ll often hear “soft” and “hard” clear coats mentioned when discussing paint correction because they play a major role in the overall approach and final outcome.

Clear coats are meant to shield a vehicle’s paint, but they’re not all made equal. They generally fall into two categories, hard clear coats and soft clear coats.

Hard clear coats are more durable against light scratches and swirls, helping your paint maintain a cleaner look over time. That said, once blemishes do show up, they take more time and effort to eliminate. Typically, a hard clear coat demands stronger compounds, firmer pads, and sometimes heavier polishing to reach the desired finish. The upside is that once it’s corrected, the results tend to hold up well.

Soft clear coats, by contrast, are much easier to mar and scratch, which means they show defects more easily. But the good news is that correcting these imperfections usually takes less time and is more straightforward. Minor swirls and defects can often be polished out using lighter pads and products, preserving more of the clear coat. The tradeoff is that soft clear coats need more careful washing and drying to prevent fresh damage.

No matter what kind of clear coat your vehicle has, we’ve got the proper equipment, products, and process to make sure the job’s done right.
